AN HONEST HARDWARE STORE. ON PURPOSE.

Cardinal Hardware opened in April 2026 at 104 S Laurel Street in Summit, Mississippi, because Pike County deserved a hardware store that was actually helpful — not a warehouse where you wander forty acres looking for one fitting.

The owner

Meet John.

John brings decades of hands-on experience in construction, development, real estate, and the industries Cardinal Hardware serves every day.

With a career spanning homebuilding, project management, land development, transportation, aggregate services, and commercial real estate investment, John understands the real-world challenges contractors, homeowners, and property owners face every day.

In 2023, John purchased the longtime local business originally founded by Clint Weakley, a respected local plumber and entrepreneur who built a trusted contractor-focused business serving the community for many years.

While honoring the reputation the business had built, John saw an opportunity to create something new. The business was rebranded as Cardinal Hardware, aligning with John's existing Cardinal family of businesses and a name that holds personal meaning for his family. With the opening of the new Summit location, that vision became reality.

Cardinal Hardware was intentionally designed to be different. After spending years in construction, supply houses, and big-box stores, John knew exactly what frustrated customers—disorganized shelves, poor inventory, wasted time, and stores that weren't designed around how people actually shop.

The new store was built with both homeowners and professional contractors in mind: clean, organized, well-stocked, and easy to navigate. From one of the area's strongest plumbing selections and a dedicated rental department to pro-grade tools, hardware essentials, heavy equipment rentals, mobile home setup materials, and hard-to-find specialty items, the goal was simple: create a true one-stop shop where customers can get what they need quickly, confidently, and with knowledgeable help.

John remains a very hands-on owner, actively involved in the day-to-day operation of the business and always willing to help customers find solutions, troubleshoot projects, or simply point them in the right direction.

John, owner of Cardinal Hardware, with his family

“I built the kind of hardware store I always wished existed—clean, organized, well-stocked, and designed to help people get in, get what they need, and get back to work.”
